Protective Security Courses

In today’s ever-changing world, close protection is no longer about being a bodyguard: it’s about managing risk and  bodyguarding with brains; it’s about avoiding danger instead of reacting to it.  In these courses, you will learn to develop your capacity to think and act strategically by focusing on the latest ideas and practices in close protection.  If you choose to complete all the courses and the required first aid component, upon successful completion and passing a written exam,  you will be awarded the SIA (Security Industry Authority) Close  Protection Licence.

These courses are tailored to those leaving the military service and looking to work in the UK and abroad in the field of close protection; those working in policing, military or civilian, (E.R.T.), military reservists,  corporate  security personnel who work for large companies who escort their executive team to overseas locations and private individuals who wish to upgrade their skills.

Operational briefings will be conducted.  We will then look at the purpose of reconnaissance, issues to be considered when conducting a reconnaissance and the difference between a covert and overt reconnaissance.  Students will have the opportunity to conduct reconnaissance using a hotel and another venue.

During this three day program, students will discuss and demonstrate close protection foot techniques and learn how to react to ambush while walking.  Close protection incidents and dilemmas will be analyzed and discussed.  Route planning will be taught along with tactical driving and anti-ambush drills.  Students will learn how to search a vehicle and how to create a seating plan.  IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) will be reviewed and students will be taught how to recognize them.  Finally, building searches using the Windthrop System will be conducted.

Communication and Search Procedures (2 days)
